Hong Kong Islang
The University of Hong Kong
A highly-qualified undergraduate with extensive footprint round the globe; his experience studying and working in the UK, Norway, Sudan and mainland China has made him realise how much impacts one can make on the world, regardless of age and social status. This motivates him to set up a Hong Kong – African exchange platform because most students in Africa do not understand how powerful they can be. In 2015 he was the only student from HKU who was awarded a scholarship from the Tallories Network to volunteer in Sudan, Africa. He was also a member of the Refugee Student Supporting Committee, under which they submitted a proposal and received funding from the United Nation. As a former core member of Novus Life Science (20 of the world’s hottest start-ups of 2014 by CNBC), he has extensive social network and startup know-how. He has co-founded a HKU social-inclusion program WeLearn (https://welearnhku.wordpress.com/) with two friends earlier this year. The project has been endorsed by HKU Cedars, advised by HKU professor and partnered with local NGOs. The experience of education project management has inspired him to further develop The African Dream program.
